Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by officials, including the District Collector, when he landed in Thanjavur on Sunday en route to Madurai from Puducherry.
After arriving in Chennai on Saturday, the Prime Minister flew by helicopter to Puducherry on Sunday to attend a government event. He subsequently departed by helicopter and landed at the Thanjavur Air Force Station at around 2 p.m. He then boarded a special aircraft and departed for Madurai at 2.05 p.m.
At the Thanjavur Air Force Station, District Collector P. Priyanka Pankajam and District Superintendent of Police R. Rajaram welcomed the Prime Minister.
A total of 21 BJP office-bearers, including P. Jaya Sathish, president of BJP Thanjavur South District, were allowed inside the air force station to meet the Prime Minister. They were formally introduced to him by senior officers.
In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, around 1,000 security personnel were deployed around the Thanjavur Air Force Station and along Pudukottai Road to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the programme.
