US President Donald Trump said Saturday, February 28, that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed in air strikes, though there has been no confirmation from Tehran.
"Khameini, one of the most evil people in History, is dead," Trump said on his Truth Social network. Trump added that "he was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems."
"Heavy and pinpoint bombing... will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST."
The joint operation began earlier on Saturday with smoke rising over Tehran after strikes that Israel said were pre-emptive.
