Through the 1,256 camps organised by the Health Department under the “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” (NKS) scheme, more than seven lakh individuals were identified and referred for treatment for various health conditions, and are now under medical care. This included 222 persons with cancer, 1,626 with heart diseases, and 1,50,708 individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes and 4,28,454 with hypertension.

Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said that under NKS 1,256 camps were completed, benefitting 18,52,561 persons. A total of 17 types of medical services were provided.

A total of 8,401 persons were diagnosed with cataract (who underwent surgery), 595 with tuberculosis, 46,409 persons were referred for higher kidney treatment and 66,251 persons with anaemia. In total, 7,06,543 persons were referred for further treatment and are receiving care, a press release said.

A total of 50,190 persons received new Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance cards, while 60,682 persons were issued disability certificates through these camps. As many as 2,78,739 unorganised workers and 96,352 sanitation workers also benefited.
