After a Portuguese content creator narrated an incident of alleged molestation and harassment in Mumbai on social media, the Mumbai Police registered an FIR in the matter on Friday (February 27, 2026). Search is going on for two unknown men, the police said.

A solo traveller who has been documenting her experiences in India on social media took to Instagram on Wednesday to describe an ordeal she faced. In a video reel that has since garnered widespread attention, she detailed how she and a companion were followed for over 15 minutes by a group of men despite her repeatedly declining their requests for photographs.

According to her, the situation escalated when the men became “super pushy,” prompting her to physically push them away to create space. “This was the first time something like this happened to me in India… and I’ve been here for 2 months now. Most of my experience has been beautiful, kind and welcoming,” she posted, adding, “Just a reminder that ‘no’ is a full sentence.”

Acting on the post, the Agripada police registered an offence. “An offence vide CRNo. 97/2026 under Sections 78(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Agripada Police Station against two unknown accused in this regard,” a senior police officer from the station confirmed on Friday.
