Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Bill Duke was feted on his birthday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The actor, 83, was honored for his contribution to film, starring in such features as Car Wash (1976), Commando (1985), Predator (1987) and Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2005).

"The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome acclaimed actor and filmmaker Bill Duke to the Hollywood Walk of Fame during Black History Month for his decades-long contributions to film and television both in front and behind the camera," Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement.

Duke has also helmed the movies, Deep Cover, A Rage in Harlem, The Killing Floor and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.

Glynn Turman, Jeff Friday, Nicole Friday and Nathalie Duke also spoke during the ceremony.
