LONDON: Israel launched airstrikes on Thursday on several towns in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, killing at least one person.
Lebanon's health ministry said a 16-year-old Syrian boy was killed and another injured.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that raids targeted areas around the villages of Shmustar, Boudai, and Harbata in the Bekaa, coinciding with low-altitude flights by Israeli fighter jets. Additional strikes were reported in the western Baalbek area and in the north of the Bekaa Valley, near the city of Hermel.
The bombardment triggered loud explosions across the area, which is near the border with Syria, the NNA added.
The Israeli military said the airstrikes targeted eight camps of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, an elite unit within the paramilitary organization.
