MILAN — Lindsey Vonn says her latest surgery went well and she hopes to be out of the hospital soon.
Vonn said the surgery on Wednesday, Feb. 18, her fifth since the crash in the Olympic downhill 10 days earlier, took a little over six hours.
"I have been recovering from the surgery but pain has been hard to manage," Vonn wrote. "Making slow progress but I hope I can be out of the hospital soon."
Vonn suffered a complex tibial fracture in the crash, though she said Feb. 17 that the injury was "a lot more severe." She had four surgeries in Italy before returning to the United States earlier this week.
Vonn hooked the fourth gate with her right arm, which sent her spinning and hurtling into the hard, packed snow. She tumbled end over end several times before coming to a stop.
