Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Law enforcement said they're considering using genetic genealogy to test the DNA found at the Arizona home of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for nearly three weeks.
Officials said Wednesday that DNA found on a glove at the Tucson residence didn't match anyone in the FBI's Combined DNA Index System, also known as CODIS. That database has the DNA profiles of more than 19 million offenders in the United States.
But that may not be the last stop in the investigation of the DNA found on the glove.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday it might turn to genealogy research, which has helped law enforcement solve multiple cases in recent years, including identifying the so-called Golden State Killer, Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., in 2019.
