LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- How to Make a Killing, in theaters Friday, is a basic dark comedy with mild satire. It's entertaining enough to want to see how it resolves and who gets payback.

Four hours before his execution, Becket Redfellow (Glen Powell) tells Father Morris (Adrian Lukis) how he ended up on Death Row. His mother, Mary (Nell Williams), was disowned by the Redfellow family when she got pregnant with him at 18.

Although the Redfellows cut off ties, even when Mary was dying in the hospital, the sealed trust still names him beneficiary. So Becket sets out to kill all the cousins, aunts and uncles until he's the sole heir.

This "eat the rich" premise leads to macabre "accidents" that Becket tailors to each of the Redfellows' personalities. Those personalities are caricatures, but they're funny caricatures.
