President Donald Trump spent his Valentine’s Day morning lamenting the time he wasted getting to know self-described comedian Bill Maher.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump described a dinner he had with Maher at the White House last year.

“Sometimes in life you waste time!” Trump posted. “T.V. Host Bill Maher asked to have dinner with me through one of his friends, also a friend of mine, and I agreed. He came into the famed Oval Office much different than I thought he would be. He was extremely nervous, had ZERO confidence in himself and, to soothe his nerves, immediately, within seconds, asked for a ‘Vodka Tonic.’ He said to me, ‘I’ve never felt like this before, I’m actually scared.’ In one respect, it was somewhat endearing!”

Following the dinner, Maher went on his HBO show to say that Trump was “gracious and measured.”

Despite the initial spark, Trump said the flame between them soon burned out after Maher returned to criticizing Trump on his show.
