One of Attorney General Pam Bondi’s old campaign videos is causing a stir.
In a recently resurfaced ad from her 2014 bid to be reelected as Florida’s top prosecutor, Bondi pledges to “fight to put human trafficking monsters where they belong, behind bars.”
Talking about her first term as the Sunshine State’s AG, she says, “I knew we needed all hands on deck: businesses and hospitals to spot it, our great law enforcement to stop it and tougher penalties to punish it.”
The decade-old statement seemed rich to critics of Bondi, who has been accused of failing to hold late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associates accountable for their participation in an alleged human trafficking conspiracy.
On Wednesday, Bondi butted heads with congressional leaders when asked about the investigations and related document disclosures during a confrontational hearing in front of the House Judiciary Committee.
