Advocacy Group Sues Trump Admin For Censoring Anti-ICE App, Facebook GroupThe Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression on Wednesday sued Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on behalf of Kae Rosado and Mark Hodges, two plaintiffs whose efforts to track ICE activity via an app and a Facebook page were disbanded by the government. In a statement, FIRE said Noem and Bondi’s efforts were “blatantly unconstitutional,” citing the 1987 Supreme Court case Houston v. Hill, where justices concluded that “to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state.” “As U.S. citizens, we have the right to keep each other informed about what our government officials are doing and how they’re doing it,” said Hodges, whose app, “Eyes Up,” was among those Apple removed from the App Store at the Trump administration’s request. “Government transparency and accountability are fundamental in a free society.”See All UpdatesClose
