An Ohio State University doctor who newly released records show received thousands of dollars in payments from Jeffrey Epstein and his associates in the early 2000s says he didn't know about Epstein's "criminal activities."
The name of Dr. Mark Landon, an OB-GYN at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a professor in the College of Medicine, appears several times among the millions of documents recently released by the Department of Justice belonging to Epstein, the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier who for years had power of attorney for New Albany billionaire Les Wexner.
In a statement issued through an OSU Wexner Medical Center spokesperson, Landon told The Dispatch: "I did not provide any clinical care for Jeffrey Epstein or any of his victims. I was a paid consultant for the New York Strategy Group regarding potential biotech investments from 2001 to 2005. I had no knowledge of any criminal activities; I find them reprehensible and I feel terrible for Epstein’s victims."
Landon, an Ohio State faculty member since 1987 and current chair of OSU's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, did not make himself available to answer specific questions. Ohio State declined to comment further.
