Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Three employees of a Canadian silver mining company were found deceased in a mass grave after being abducted from a project site in late January.
Vizsla Silver said on Monday that families of their employees informed the company that they had identified their relatives, who were abducted from a housing development near a mining project in La Concordia, Mexico, two weeks ago.
After the Jan. 23 abduction, Vizsla suspended operations on the project, engaging crisis management and security response teams, as well as working with Mexican officials, who deployed more than 1,200 people to assist in the search-and-rescue operation.
"We are devastated by this outcome and the tragic loss of life," Michael Konnert, president and CEO of Vizsla, said in a statement. "Our focus remains on the safe recovery of those who remain missing and on supporting all affected families and our people during this incredibly difficult time."
