One person was injured in a shooting at a Maryland high school located in the Washington suburbs, local police said.

The Montgomery County Department of Police confirmed the shooting at 2:40 p.m. ET, saying officers were dispatched to Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, after reports of shots fired inside the campus. Rockville is about 20 miles north of Washington.

Police said one person was shot, but officials did not immediately release additional details about their condition.

In a follow-up post at 3:23 p.m. ET, the Montgomery County Department of Police said one person was in custody related to the shooting.
