Brad Arnold, the lead singer and cofounder of rock band 3 Doors Down, has died, his bandmates confirmed Saturday, Feb. 7. He was 47.
The founding member died peacefully alongside loved ones, including his wife, Jennifer, 3 Doors Down confirmed on social media. Arnold married Jennifer, a professional barrel racer, in 2009.
"Brad helped redefine mainstream rock music, blending post-grunge accessibility with emotionally direct songwriting and lyrical themes that resonated with everyday listeners," the band said in a statement. "His music reverberated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will live on long after the stages he performed on."
The statement continued: "Those closest to him will remember not only his talent, but his warmth, humility, faith, and deep love for his family and friends."
In May 2025, the musician announced in a somber social media video he had been diagnosed with advanced-stage clear cell renal carcinoma kidney cancer that had metastasized into his lung.
