Mariah Carey sang the iconic Italian song “Volare” in Italian at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Milan on Friday, and the reviews were all over the place — kinda like a beginning skier on a steep slope.
One critic uttered an “OMG” but needed “a toke.” So maybe that’s a good thing?
Another wrote “unsuitable,” and more than a few complained that, with so many Italian singers around, why not let one of them sing it?
(We’re partial to the Dean Martin version, but he’s definitely not available.)
In an otherwise restrained performance, Carey did belt out her signature high note while singing her hit “Nothing Is Impossible.”
