A ransom note distributed to a handful of media outlets demanding cryptocurrency for the safe return of Nancy Guthrie ended up with TMZ founder Harvey Levin, who described it in greater detail in a Thursday night interview with Sean Hannity.Levin repeatedly said there’s “something very specific” in the letter that makes him believe Guthrie is being held within a certain radius of the Tucson area — potentially as far as New Mexico. He also disclosed the letter arrived via email, and that the FBI spent a good amount of time working with the IT team at TMZ but so far has been unable to trace its origin. “I know the Bitcoin address is real,” he said.According to Levin, the letter contained corroborating information. This included a specific reference to where Guthrie kept her Apple Watch in the house and a damaged floodlight.“This was not a letter that was thrown together in a couple of minutes. It is a very specific, well-organized, layered letter that really lays things out,” Levin elaborated. “This is not AI. If an English teacher were to look at it for structure and grammar, I think they would have no notes.”The letter allegedly contains two deadlines. One on Thursday that’s already passed, and another, “far more consequential” deadline on Monday, said Levin.TMZ had previously reported the note demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin.Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters yesterday they “believe Nancy is still out there” but conceded they have yet to identify any suspects or persons of interest in the case. Authorities have, however, made at least one arrest related to an “imposter” ransom demand.Close
