With focused efforts towards effective investigation and successful prosecution of grave crimes, police in South Zone have secured series of significant convictions in January.
This included convictions in offences like murder, robbery and crime against women and children.
In a statement, Inspector General of Police (South Zone) Vijayendra Bidari said that the police have got conviction in as many as 10 murder cases across the zone and Theni district alone recorded convictions in four cases.
As many as 20 accused were convicted and out of them 18 were awarded life imprisonment. One of them got a double life sentence.
