Italian retail sales rose by 0.8% in value terms in 2025 with respect to the previous year but dropped by 0.6% in volume, Istat said on Thursday.
The data suggests the cost-of-living crisis is still biting here, with Italian consumers effectively paying more to get less.
The national statistics agency said retail sales were down both in value (by 0.8%) and volume (by 0.9%) in December compared with November.
