Not only does Rafah’s border with Egypt need to fully open but so do all other “pathways for patients”, says Tarik Jasarvic, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization (WHO).
“We know the most time efficient and cost efficient referral pathways is through to the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where there are medical facilities ready to receive patients,” Jasarvic told Al Jazeera.
