A few weeks ago, a friend asked me if I wanted to buy olives or olive oil from a Palestinian family. The village this family lives in, located in the northern West Bank, has been suffering from harassment by settlers from the nearby outposts, this friend reported. I had enough olive oil but I wanted to help this farmer,, so I ordered olives. There was a time I didn't believe in such small donations, only in the big political change – but in the face of the horrors of the past few years, such acts seem like the only way to remain human.
