President Donald Trump’s Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in an interview four months ago that he and his wife had decided in 2005 to "never to be in the same room" as the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, their onetime New York City neighbor.
But in 2012, the couple, along with family, was planning a visit to Little St. James, Epstein’s private Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to a trove of new files released by the Justice Department on Jan. 30.
One of the emails released as part of the Epstein files indicates that Lutnick's planned meeting on Dec. 23, 2012, at Epstein's island did take place.
Epstein sent an email to his assistant on Dec. 24, 2012, with the subject: "please forward to howard lutnik"
"Nice seeing you," it said.
