President Donald Trump took damage control to a disturbing new level Sunday in claiming near ignorance about the loss by Republican Leigh Wambsganss in a Texas state Senate election.
On Truth Social Saturday, he touted the “phenomenal Candidate” who had his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
But Democrat Taylor Rehmet won, flipping the traditionally Republican district to keep the Democrats’ momentum going in elections since Trump’s second term began.
When asked about it on Sunday, Trump tried indifferent nonchalance.
“I didn’t hear about. Someone ran ― where? ... I’m not involved in that. That’s a local Texas race,” he said.
