A 65-year-old woman and her 38-year-old daughter were killed in a road accident at Ambayathode near Thamarassery in Kozhikode district. The victims were identified as Fathima and her daughter Rubeena, residents of Pantheerankavu.
The police said the car in which they were travelling rammed an avenue tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle around 3 p.m. Two other passengers sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
The car was completely damaged in the collision. Timely intervention by local rescue operators saved the lives of the injured passengers. Fire and Rescue Service personnel and police reached the spot and coordinated the rescue operation.
