A job fair was organised at JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Abled (JSSPDA) here on Thursday with the objective of providing employment opportunities to persons with disabilities and enabling them to become self-reliant.
The job fair sought to offer suitable employment to differently-abled persons based on their educational qualifications, skills, and abilities. It was organised jointly by JSSPDA and the Association of People with Disability (APD), Bengaluru.
Several companies from different sectors participated in the job fair, offering employment opportunities in manufacturing, service, and other sectors. The job fair was held under the guidance of JSS Mahavidyapeetha with the cooperation of APD.
As many as 12 companies, including TVS Motor Company, Automotive Axles, and Big Basket, took part in the job fair. A total of 176 persons with disabilities registered for the event, of whom 42 candidates were selected for employment, the organisers said.
During the programme, APD distributed 15 wheel chairs to the needy.
