Trump Suggests Alex Pretti Was To Blame For Bringing His Legal GunPresident Donald Trump on Tuesday suggested that Alex Pretti, who was gunned down by immigration officers in Minneapolis on Saturday, may have brought his death on himself by bringing his registered handgun with him when he went to document agents’ behavior.“You can’t walk in with guns,” he told reporters as he prepared to board Marine One to give a rally speech in Iowa. When one reporter followed up by asking about the Second Amendment, Trump doubled down: “You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. It's just a very unfortunate incident.”Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, had a concealed-carry permit and the weapon was stowed in a holster. When he tried to help a woman who had just been shoved to the ground by an immigration agent, he was attacked with pepper spray, tackled by a handful of agents, disarmed and then shot repeatedly.Gun-rights groups complained when FBI Director Kash Patel said essentially the same thing after Pretti’s shooting, arguing that there is no law against carrying a weapon anywhere it is legally permitted, including a protest. Others pointed that pro-Trump groups have repeatedly taken guns to protests in recent years. None have been shot by authorities.See All UpdatesClose
