Ray J is opening up about his life-threatening hospitalization, revealing a severe case of heart failure after contracting pneumonia.
The "One Wish" singer, 45, thanked family, friends and fans for their prayers during his battle with pneumonia in an Instagram video Sunday, Jan. 25.
"I want to thank everybody for praying for me. I was in a hospital. My heart's only beating like 25%, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right," said the singer. He then shared several updates on his work with Zeus Network, including multiple dating shows, before sharing thanks to his parents, sister Brandy and others "for helping." He added, "My health is not OK."
In the caption of the video, he wrote: "Just almost died!! I'm alive because of your prayers and support!!"
In other recent Instagram live videos reshared on social media, however, the singer claims that doctors told him he had months to live, saying, "2027 is definitely a wrap for me." He later attributed his heart's condition to excessive drinking and drug use. He added his parents would soon be taking him to an appointment, and thanked Brandy for paying his bills "for the rest of the year."
