Skip to Main ContentKristi Noem's Account Of Pretti Shooting Directly Contradicted By Video, EyewitnessesHomeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem held a press conference Saturday accusing Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old Minnesota man fatally shot by federal agents on Saturday, of attacking law enforcement. Videos show differently."This individual impeded the law enforcement officers and attacked them," Noem said during a late afternoon press conference. "I state the facts as they unfolded on the street today. We were doing a targeted operation against an illegal criminal and this individual came with a weapon and dozens of rounds of ammunition and attacked them. And these agents took action to defend their lives and the lives of people around them and acted according to their training, and we will continue to let this process go forward and not allow people like Gov. Walz and Mayor Frey to lie about what actually unfolded on that street."Multiple videos show a federal agent spraying chemical irritant in the face of Pretti before slamming him on the ground. At least six masked men can be seen restraining and beating Pretti, an ICU nurse who also worked at the Department of Veteran Affairs, before fatally shooting him. While the Justice Department has alleged Pretti was carrying a 9 mm handgun, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara confirmed that Pretti was a “lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.”See All UpdatesClose
