An alumni meet of the All India Students Federation (AISF) titled ‘Thirike’ was held at Kerala Law Academy, Peroorkada, on Saturday.

Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Binoy Viswam, who is also an alumnus, was the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, he said the AISF had played an important role in shaping students with strong values. Referring to the long journey of the AISF since its formation, Mr. Viswam said unity among students was important even today.

Referring to the Indian Constitution, he underscored the need to protect democratic principles. He also spoke about Marxism and the relevance of student movements in society.

Minister for Revenue K. Rajan; Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G.R. Anil; Additional Advocate General K.P. Jayachandran; former High Court judge Balakrishnan Nair; AISF Thiruvananthapuram district committee president Vipin Adoor; AISF unit secretary Sharikh S., Vaidyan; and Nagaraj Narayanan, director of Kerala Law Academy, attended the event.
