Ten-year-old Nathan Tan from Kuala Lumpur has been playing Scrabble since he was six.
“He won last year’s Malaysia National Youth Scrabble Championship. As a parent, I want to encourage him, as it helps him build resilience while he prepares to compete at the World Youth Championships,” says Phillip Tan, father of Nathan Tan.
Tan is the youngest player at the KSSA Indian Open 2026, an international Scrabble tournament that commenced in Bengaluru on January, 23.
Hosted by Karnataka State Scrabble Association (KSSA), the four-day tournament will see 168 contestants from 13 countries, and the winners will receive cash prizes totalling ₹11.6 lakh.
