President Donald Trump told reporters Thursday that his administration will release details about his proposed deal for U.S. military access to Greenland in two weeks, describing it as a “much more generous deal” than the current one.

“I think Greenland is going very well. It’s in negotiation, and I think what we did today was great,” the president said while flying home from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Air Force One Thursday.

Asked whether Denmark was “on board” with the agreement, Trump replied: “I think everyone likes it. I mean, I think. I’ll let you know in about two weeks.”

For weeks, Trump had ramped up his long-running campaign to take Greenland from Denmark. In a speech in Davos, he told delegates, “I don’t have to use force” and “I don’t want to use force” to take control of the autonomous Danish territory he has referred to as “a piece of ice.”

On Wednesday, Trump posted on Truth Social that he’d established the “framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland.” The New York Times, citing three unnamed senior officials, reported that the agreement would give the U.S. control over small pockets of Greenland’s territory for military purposes.
