Actresses Anne Hathaway and Elizabeth Hurley, and designers Anna Fendi and Brunello Cucinelli were among the mourners present at the Valentino Garavani's funeral in Rome's Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri on Friday, along with his family and his long-time personal and professional partner Giancarlo Giammetti.
The iconic fashion designer died aged 93 on Monday.
During his homily, Father Pietro Guerini said Valentino's works "revealed new visions and a new divine wisdom.
"I like to think of him before the Lord while he reaps the fruits of the beauty he has sown," he added.
Cucinelli described Valentino as a "great 20th-century genius.
