US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, January 21, that he had reached a framework for a deal over Greenland following a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte, and that he would therefore waive tariffs scheduled to hit European allies.

"We have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

"It's a deal that people jumped at, really fantastic for the USA, gets everything we wanted, including especially real national security and international security," Trump told reporters as he attended the World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort of Davos.
