Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A Maryland man said a last-minute change of his mind led to his buying a different scratch-off lottery ticket and winning a $50,000 prize.
The Caroline County man told Maryland Lottery officials he had a specific game in mind when he stopped at the Sunoco Truck Stop on Kent Island on Jan. 9.
"I have a favorite game, and I was about to buy it when I saw this one," the Denton resident said. "It looked like a new ticket to me and for some reason I picked it instead."
The man ended up buying a $5 20X the Cash ticket.
The player scratched off a $50,000 prize and immediately called his wife.
