Adam Weinstein, deputy director of the Middle East programme at the Quincy Institute think-tank, says significant challenges lie ahead for the governance of Syria after the heavy fighting between troops and the SDF ended.

“One of the problems negotiating an agreement at gunpoint is that you get a somewhat lopsided agreement, and I’m a bit sceptical that the SDF will remain committed to this long-term,” he told Al Jazeera.
