Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) called tariffs President Donald Trump said he would impose on countries that oppose a potential U.S. takeover of Greenland "bad for America, bad for American businesses, and bad for America's allies."

Tillis, who as of late has been a frequent critic of Trump and his administration, said it's "beyond stupid" that members of Trump's inner circle are pushing for the move.

"The fact that a small handful of 'advisors' are actively pushing for coercive action to seize territory of an ally is beyond stupid," Tillis posted on X. "It hurts the legacy of President Trump and undercuts all the work he has done to strengthen the NATO alliance over the years."
