Former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.) is facing a bombshell lawsuit this week from her bodyguard’s ex-wife, whose lawyers told HuffPost that the lawmaker ‘enticed’ their client’s husband with “lavish trips and concerts, an exorbitant salary for his services, and psychedelic drugs.”

Sinema’s pursuit of her bodyguard, Matthew Ammel, was “intentional, calculated, relentless, and, ultimately, successful,” lawyers representing Heather Ammel told HuffPost.

“Her conduct evidenced a complete disregard for the Ammels’ marriage as well as the family as a whole,” the statement read.

The lawsuit was drafted and filed in a North Carolina state court in September, but Sinema’s attorney requested that it be moved to federal court this week.

Matthew and Heather Ammel were married in October 2010 and divorced in November 2024, sharing three kids and a home in Moore County, North Carolina. In the lawsuit, Heather Ammel paints a picture of a marriage filled with “genuine love and affection,” before it was “destroyed” by her spouse’s affair with Sinema.
