Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host and current federal prosecutor for Washington, D.C., wants everyone to know she's responsible for the subpoenas to the Federal Reserve that sparked a political firestorm.
"The United States Attorney’s Office contacted the Federal Reserve on multiple occasions to discuss cost overruns and the chairman’s congressional testimony, but were ignored, necessitating the use of legal process — which is not a threat," Pirro said on X.
Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell labeled the subpoenas a threat to the Fed's interest rate decisions, which have been heavily criticized by President Donald Trump, who has previously threatened legal action against Powell. But the subpoenas shocked Republicans, who said Trump should back off, and the president claimed he knew nothing about them.
