In a scathing op-ed titled “Lawfare for Dummies, Monetary Edition,” The Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial board ripped the Justice Department’s decision to criminally investigate Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

“President Trump would do himself and the country a big favor by firing those responsible for this fiasco,” the editorial reads.

The op-ed also cited reporting by the Journal that Bill Pulte, of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, played a key role in the effort to target Powell, while also claiming that Attorney General Pam Bondi most likely greenlit the subpoenas sent to the U.S. central bank on Friday.
