The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday (January 12, 2026) questioned Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay for six hours in connection with the probe into the Karur stampede case.
It is learnt that the agency wanted him to join the probe again on Tuesday (January 13, 2026), but he sought another date on account of the Pongal festival. The CBI will, therefore, summon him again as and when required.
The TVK chief arrived in New Delhi on a chartered plane around 10.30 a.m. and reached the heavily barricaded CBI headquarters about an hour later. A large number of Delhi police and Central Armed Police Force personnel were deployed in anticipation of a large turnout of his supporters and fans, some of whom managed to slip through the security cordon and join the mediapersons outside the building.
Karur stampede: What triggered the chaos
Mr. Vijay left the CBI headquarters around 6.15 p.m. The agency also questioned S. Davidson Devasirvatham, who was Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) at the time of the stampede.
