ISLAMABAD: A gas cylinder explosion killed at least five people and injured 15 others in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Sunday, police said.

The blast took place in a house in Islamabad’s G-7/2 sector, police said in a statement. The blast damaged other houses in the surrounding area, police said.

Police officers and rescue teams are present in the area for relief activities, the statement said.

“Five people lost their lives, while the injured were immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment,” police said.

Islamabad Police said further investigations are being conducted to ascertain the cause of the blast.
