More than 1,000 anti-ICE protests are scheduled nationwide for Saturday, Jan. 10, and Sunday, Jan. 11, following the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis.
"There's widespread anger right now. It's organic," said Ezra Levin, cofounder of the progressive group Indivisible, which helps organize rallies and train local activists.
Rallies and vigils were already popping up before the national groups got involved, he said.
A groundswell of protests began on Jan. 7, after a federal agent from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement fatally shot Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, in her car in Minneapolis. The shooting prompted days of protests in Minneapolis, which have quickly spread to cities across the country.
A second shooting by a Border Patrol agent of a married couple in Portland, Oregon, on Jan. 8 has also prompted protests.
