Former Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has sought an upgrade of his security cover, citing a suspected threat call from an international number.
Mr. Eshwarappa met Superintendent of Police Nikhil B. in Shivamogga on Friday and submitted a letter seeking an investigation into the call and upgrading the security cover.
The former Minister, in his letter, stated that he had a missed call from an international number on Wednesday. When he tried to call back on the same number, there was no response from the other end. Earlier, he had received a threat call from an international number.
“After the previous incident, the State government had provided me with an escort, besides proper security to my houses in Shivamogga and Bengaluru. However, three months ago, the security was degraded from Y category to X category. Now, again, I received the call. It seems some anti-national organisations are behind the call. The reduced security cover could have prompted them to call me again,” he said.
He urged the police to initiate an investigation into the same and find out who the caller was and what his motive was. “The police did not find out who the caller was on the previous occasion. I wish they would investigate properly this time and find the caller,” he stated.
