Once again, the US has been shaken by chilling footage of a deadly law enforcement intervention. The death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old American citizen and mother of three, who was shot and killed by an agent from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on a street in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday, January 7, has sparked a wave of protests across the country.

In footage filmed by bystanders, Good's SUV can be seen on a snow-covered street in a residential neighborhood. An ICE vehicle approaches, and masked armed officers step out. One shouts at the woman to "get out of the fucking car." One officer tries to open the driver's door, but she briefly reverses, then shifts into drive while turning the wheel, seemingly attempting to leave. An officer standing in front of the vehicle then fires once through the windshield, then two more times through the driver's window as the car passes by him. The SUV then crashes into another parked car a few meters away.

A visual analysis carried out by the New York Times showed that, at the moment of the gunshots, the officer was not in the vehicle's path, as the wheels had turned. In the seconds that followed, the agents called emergency services, but did not rush to help Good. A man who identified himself as a doctor and asked to check her pulse was prevented from intervening.
