In an interview with The New York Times, President Donald Trump defended his response to the news that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot a woman Wednesday in Minneapolis.
Shortly after the shooting took place, Trump claimed that "the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense."
Trump later doubled down on that statement, even though footage of the incident released so far contradicts his statement. When the Times reporters pressed him on whether he believes it is acceptable to shoot straight into a vehicle the way the officer did in this case, Trump still blamed the driver: "She behaved horribly."
