Call him Houndini.
Earlier this week, Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter in West Virginia posted a video to its Facebook page that seemed so far-fetched that some social media users questioned if it was real.
“It is not AI. He did break out,” Lee Domaszowec, a representative for the shelter and West Virginia Animal Rescue, told HuffPost. “It just so happens that [we] discovered the world’s greatest escape artist.”
The video (above) shows surveillance camera footage of Dawson, a 3-year-old mixed-breed dog, escaping from his latched crate after hours and then opening the facility’s front door by turning the lock with his snout and mouth.
Dawson was in the shelter for less than 24 hours before he broke out, and Domaszowec said at the time of his escape, his kennel was “in fact, latched and clipped.”
