Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, he announced Wednesday on Instagram.
Simpson led the SEC with 305 completions and 473 attempts this season for the Crimson Tide (11-4). He finished second in the conference n passing yards (3,567), behind the Ole Miss Rebels' Trinidad Chambliss, He also finished second, trailing only Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia, in passing scores with 28.
"Grateful for every single second," Simpson wrote on Instagram. "Blessed beyond measure to be able to chase my dreams. Time to roll. Roll Tide."
Simpson completed 64.5% of his throws and threw just five interceptions over 15 appearances in 2025. The former Westview (Martin, Tenn.) High School star, who was one of the top high school quarterback prospects in the class of 2022, joined the Crimson Tide under former head coach Nick Saban.
He initially played behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe before becoming a full-time starter.
