Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Chinese officials on Tuesday banned the exportation of some rare earth minerals and other goods that might have military use following comments regarding Taiwan by Japan's prime minister.
All dual-use items are prohibited from being exported to any entities that support Japanese military capabilities, China's Ministry of Commerce said in its first policy announcement of 2026.
China "never will allow Japan's right-wing forces to turn back the wheel of history," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told media.
"Peace-loving countries and peoples around the world" will "never allow militarism to make a comeback," Mao said.
