Jimmy Kimmel had nothing but thanks for his biggest adversary at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night. The late night television host thanked none other than President Donald Trump during his speech as he accepted the award for best talk show. Trump, of course, publicly praised the television network Sinclair when Kimmel’s show was pulled off the air after he criticized the reaction to Charlie Kirk’s death. Kimmel kicked off his speech by joking that a “FIFA peace prize would’ve been better, but this is nice, too.”“Thanks to all the writers and actors and producers and union members, many of you who are in this room, who supported us, who really stepped forward us and reminded us that we do not take free speech for granted in this city or in this country,” Kimmel said during his speech on Sunday. He added that their “actions were important, and we appreciate them.” Jimmy Kimmel thanked Donald Trump "for all the many ridiculous things you do" in his acceptance speech. Critics Choice Awards“Most of all, I want to thank our president ― Donald Jennifer Trump ― without whom we would be going home empty-handed tonight,” the comedian quipped.“So thank you, Mr. President, for all the many ridiculous things you do each and every day,” he said. “It’s been a banner couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to get back on the air tomorrow night to talk about them.” Trump has repeatedly called for Kimmel to be pulled off the air for good, as the two men have publicly traded barbs for months. Despite the president’s wishes, Disney isn’t letting go of Kimmel anytime soon. Bloomberg reported in early December that Disney’s ABC Network renewed its contract with Kimmel for at least another year, and that he will stay on the air through May 2027. Close
